DIFFERENT FORMS OF PRAYER

“If MY people who are called by MY Name will humble themselves, and pray and seek MY face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14
...The earnest (heart-felt), continued prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available – dynamic in its working. James 5:16.
For the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous – those who are upright and in standing with God – and His ears are attentive (open) to their prayer...” 1 Peter 3:12

  • The greatest difficulty in most believers’ experience is their prayer lives.
  • People ask: Is it really necessary to pray?
  • If ever there was a person whom it might be through did not need to pray, surely Jesus was that person. Yet the four gospels make it clear that prayer was absolutely central to his life.
  • True prayer is born of love and comes in the midst of sin and need. It comes not to condemn, but to cover.
  • Our desire should be to please and to bless the Father. As we pray in line with His Word. He joyfully hears that we, His children are living and walking in the truth. 3 John 4.
  • Prayer is man exercising his legal authority on earth to invoke heaven’s influence on the planet.
  • Prayer is therefore not an option for mankind but a necessity.
  • Prayer is not just an activity or a ritual; it is communion and communication that touches God’s heart.
  • Prayer is meant to be one of the most exciting aspects of a life of faith.
  • It is the vehicle by which you are meant to commune with the God.
  • The power of prayer is the inheritance of the believer.
  • Prayer is not to be a religious form with no power. It is to be effective and accurate and bring results. God watches over His Word to perform. Jer.1:12.
  • The two essential conditions of revival are unity and prayer. Act. 1:14 “All continued with one accord in prayer and supplication.
  • Prayer is a result of God’s established authority structure between heaven and earth, as well as a product of His faithfulness to His Word.
  • Prayer is not a static activity.
  • Prayer as Jesus taught is relational.
  • Almost everybody pray to God when they have a tremendous need.
  • For many people prayer is a last resort.
  • They pray only when they are desperate.
  • They are not sure whom they are addressing or quite what to expect from their prayer.
  • If the need continues, for them it is proof that there is no God. If their need disappears, God is forgotten until the next emergency.
  • But it should be the exact opposite.
  • Prayer should be as natural and instinctive as breathing.
  • However, it should not be restricted merely to asking God to meet needs; it should also be an expression of an intimate relationship with God.
  • To think that God Almighty, the Creator of everything, stops and listens when we pray.
